Hi All!
Looks like we will have to try for a picnic potluck in July as there is a 60% chance of rain this afternoon.
Please come to our home. Contact me at anyachase@yahoo.ca for details
Please bring your own plate cutlery.
Bikes can be secured in our backyard.
Hope to see you soon!
Anna and Steve
Thanks to Anna and Steve for hosting 14 neighbours in this latest monthly Main Street Neighbourhood potluck and showing us your incredible, edible garden! People brought a scrumptious assortment of Tandoori chicken, spinach-feta roll-ups, lasagna, quinoa, salads, home-made pizza, bread, rice pudding, wine, and many other treats. What made it a real homey meal was sharing it outdoors on a sunny evening with a newly fruiting cherry tree, several thousand calm and well-behaved mason bees, and two neighbouring cats and a dog (who never once fought).

We will try again next month for a picnic in QE Park! We are considering a Wednesday evening, perhaps July 28, since so many are traveling on summer weekends.
Greetings Main Street Area Neighbours!

I hope you are having a great summer!

It was wonderful to share a delicious picnic in the park with neighbours in July and we will continue with our picnicking theme for August! I hope you can make the next picnic potluck on Sunday, August 29th at 6pm at Grimmett park, a small park at just west of Main Street and 19th Ave.

Please bring a plate and cutlery and a blanket (if possible).
If you have a chance please email me at anyachase@yahoo.ca to let me know if you can make it.
I hope to see you there! Anna

* Also just a quick note about the September or October Potluck. A few of us have discussed having a neighbourhood visioning event as part of our potluck. Fellow main street neighbour Avril Orloff, a graphic facilitator and graphic recorder, has kindly offered her amazing talent for this evening (http://avrilorloff.com). I hope you can all make it to brainstorm ideas on how to build a sustainable, resilient community, and to turn our ideas into action!

*Also please let me know if you are interested in hosting a potluck sometime, Sept onward (ideally on a Sunday at 6pm the 3rd or 4th week of the month) thanks!
It's on! VV's BIGGEST POTLUCK yet will take place at Heritage Hall a week before Thanksgiving, on Monday October 4. This is Main Street Neighbourhood's party to organize and show off what we can do!

We will start the evening with family-friendly activities at 6 and then tap deeper into Storm Brewery's local best along with wild, danceable music as the evening progresses.

This is a showcase of local foods, locally prepared, and shared. Take the opportunity to test out a new Thanksgiving recipe or learn from others. We will be showcasing the "2 Block Diet" and urban agriculture. There will be no cost to anyone (except beer drinkers--but the beer will be nicely-priced).

We have done this once before, under the banner of NOWBC, and we can do it again. Volunteers welcome, and many hands make light work!
