Vancouver's Leader in Transition toward Strong, Resilient, Complete Communities
1.What is/are the name of your project(s) with Kits Village Vancouver? Please provide a description of the project(s) you are involved in.
Vegan Soup night - plus optional Storytelling event - Cric! Crac! with Vancouver Story telling Society
2.How did this project get started and how long has it been going on for?
Grew out of trying to organize potlucks in Kits - realized this could be a low-key thing since I already invited a friend for a simple dinner before we went to Cric! Crac!
3.Approximately how many people are involved in this project?
Sometimes it's 3 - it's been as many as 8.
4.How often does this group meet?
monthly
5.Where do you usually meet?
My housing co-op common room or my small apartment if we are few.
6.What are your project goals or vision?
One more option for people to meet fairly informally without a big agenda or investment in time
7.How can this group be contacted if someone were interested?
maryinvancouver@gmail.com
8.What kind of skills/resources/backgrounds does the group have?
Community building; vegan cooking/awareness
9.What are your greatest challenges in this project?
Unpredictable numbers - although it's not a big problem.
Small space - nicer to be in my apartment, but it takes effort to get ready for guests, especially if there's more than just a couple.
10.Cool facts, bragging rights, interesting activities!
I'm actually not a vegan - but I call myself a part-time vegan or vegan ally i.e. I like to support my vegan friends by promoting how good vegan food is - and making them welcome at food sharing events.
