Vancouver's Leader in Transition toward Strong, Resilient, Complete Communities
Hello,
I need to move my hive to a new location (a little further than 2 miles). If anyone has tips or experience moving hives I'd love your advice on how to make the trip smooth. It's not a long distance, but packing these little fellows up is a bit daunting.
Thanks,
Shauna

Hi Shauna;
Move the bees at night. I use a migratory cover, it has a front and a back lip but no sides, easier to wrap a strap around. Use a strip of 1/8th mesh screen to close the bottom entrance, switch the telescoping cover for the migratory one, hold it all together with a heavy duty strap and then move to a new location. Once there take the screen off, the strap, the migratory lid and the bees are set to go the next day. Email me at brian@blessedbee.ca if you'd like to borrow those things. Brian
