Village Vancouver

Vancouver's Leader in Transition toward Strong, Resilient, Complete Communities

Hey there foodies!

I want to take a moment to share something very close to my heart.  It's a "maybe 1 day..." project has finally come into being!

And this is an Invitation for Wild Foragers, Canners, Fermenters, and Free Food Lovers to participate!  I hope that this proves to be a useful resource in this coming Harvest Season.

There's a new Urban Edibles Map page, now live on the Urban Herb School site.
Simply, it's a Map of Vancouver's Fruit Trees and Wild Edibles.  It's interactive so that anyone can add "pins".  It's a google map, and the trees are marked with "pins" that tell you information about the foraging possibility and the type of tree/herb.

BUT it needs your help to be really awsome!  I've added only a small handful of things that I know about.  Please click on the map so that you can add the wild edibles in your neighbourhoods.  The more we all use it, the better it'll be.

Here's a link to Falling Fruit in Boulder.  It was finding these folks that sparked my effort to do one for Vancouver.  Also, I'll mention that there's an Urban Medicinals Map of Vancouver, though I haven't sorted out all the ethical bits and pieces so it's not going live just yet.

I hope you enjoy it!  Happy foraging!
