"An intention is a directed impulse of consciousness that contains the seed form of something you aim to create. Like real seeds, intentions can’t grow if you hold onto them. Only when you release your intentions into the fertile depths of your consciousness can they grow and flourish."
We need your help for our 2017 BiTF art project! Burn In The Forest (BitF) is Greater Vancouver's official Burning Man regional annual summer event.
"The Intention Tree" is an interactive art installation utilising the forest to cultivate positive change and motivation, mindfulness and promote the principles of permaculture.
The intention tree will be an area of reflection and calmness. Seed packets will be distributed and hung from the tree’s branches. Those wishing to interact will have access to a pen and tag, on which to write individual intentions and tie to a branch. Once complete, a seed packet can be removed to take home at the end of the festival to plant and enjoy, serving as a reminder for the intention set at BiTF.
The trunk will be decorated using the Yarn Bombing technique to create a stunning psychedelic visual. Wind chimes will hang and ring to soothe your soul.
After BiTF we would like to find a place somewhere in the city for some of the yarn bombing to live on. The rest will be converted into blankets and donated to the Downtown Eastside.
We are enlisting your help to learn crocheting so we can make enough yarn squares to build the bigger blanket to go around the tree trunk and branches at BiTF. You can also help with making wind chimes for the tree with recycled materials e.g shells, tin cans and bottle tops. *Please start collecting these items in your home too!*
We will have a wonderful someone at the workshop to teach everyone how to crochet the squares. We think it will be loads of fun to do all together with our friends.
We'll of course provide the yarn and equipment. Hope you can make it!
