Join WE Neighbourhood Food Network and Village Vancouver on World Food Day at our monthly family friendly gathering. Bring something yummy and share some good food and conversation with neighbours. We'll have a seed library there - you can get some free seeds for your garden, or swap or donate seeds or plants. This month the Potluck mini-workshop will discuss the book "Eating on the Wild Side: The Missing Link to Optimal Health" by Jo Robinson, recipient of the 2014 International Association of Culinary Professional's Cookbook Award in the category of "Food Matters." As an investigative reporter, she explores the next stage in the food revolution -- a radical way to select fruits and vegetables and reclaim the flavor and nutrients we've lost. On a practical level, she offers suggests on the best varieties of popular fruits and vegetables with the highest nutritional values. It will change how you select and grow vegetables!
The Food Network's WE Urban Garden Club meets from 2:30-3:30 after the potluck/workshop. Join us in exploring possibilities for creating a new community garden and other gardening spaces in the West End - this month's theme is World Food Day -- Challenging Poverty and Food Insecurity. We'll also hear from our WeBee and Seed Savers groups, and discuss potential new workshops and activities. All ages welcome!
