In this free Village Vancouver Aberthau Garden Project workshop, you'll learn to create home-made fruit "soda pop" from water kefir starter culture: from creating the initial mixture to flavouring and bottling it (secondary fermentation). The result is a highly carbonated, dry, healthful fruit soda. You’ll get to sample the finished product, and take home your own kefir starter grains with printed instructions. Bring a small, leak-proof jar for your grains. $7 materials fee. Instructor: Alyssa Kohlman (Fermentoring).
To register: ross@villagevancouver.ca or RSVP here. Register by May 4.

Aberthau Garden Project 2015-17.The garden is located behind the Mansion, just off of NW Marine Dr.
Hosted by Village Vancouver, the Aberthau Garden Project 2015-17 includes VV's Demonstration Permaculture Garden, the West Point Grey Preschool Garden, and (following last year’s Sunflower Garden) the Pumpkin Patch, a new art/garden project by Aberthau artists-in-residence: LocoMotoArt Laura Lee Coles and Rob Scharein.
Emphasizing regenerative, low maintenance and moisture retentive permaculture design elements, including a small hugelkultur, an herb spiral, and saving open pollinated seeds, last year Village planted annual and perennial veggies, fruits, herbs and flowers, including pollinator attractants. Offering fun and inclusive social, educational, and cultural activities for community members, including free monthly workshops, newer gardeners garden collaboratively alongside more experienced gardeners, providing a learning experience for everyone.
