The Vancouver Urban Farmign Society is a new organization whose goal is:
To support the growth of urban farming in Vancouver, and act as a model for urban farming policy in other jurisdictions, through:
Advancing the state of knowledge about urban farming, including practices and the broad benefits thereof;
Identifying barriers, opportunities and trends in regards to urban farming;
Serving as a resource hub for existing and prospective urban farmers and the public;
Encouraging and facilitating communication, networking, resource sharing and collaboration between our members and between members and interested parties on issues pertaining to urban farming;
Advocating for policy and infrastructure development that enables urban farming and supporting businesses; and
Promoting the value and legitimacy of urban farmers and farms as community food assets, businesses and employers.
