Growing Food Around The Creek: An Urban Agriculture Walking Tour led by Dr. Yael Stav from Invivo Design (vertical urban ecology). With the increasing density and cost of living in inner-city Vancouver, is there still a place for community gardens or even urban farms? Should we be looking at other models of urban agriculture such as domestic micro-farming or indoor gardening? In this walk we will visit the inspiring project of Sole Food urban farm and understand its challenges to achieve both social and environmental goals. We will stop by a few different community gardens at the Olympic Village and False Creek South, and discuss the various models of community/communal gardens and their place in the livelihood of the communities living in this area. We will end the tour at the Invivo home studio, where domestic vertical vegetation and micro farming will be discussed and demonstrated along with herbal tea.
Meet at Pacific Blvd. and Carrall St. (by the farm).
