We'll watch In Transition 2.0 and then explore some of the exciting activities taking place in our local neighbourhoods and elsewhere to build healthier and more sustainable communities, including activities around food and Neighbourhood Food Networks.
In Transition 2.0 is an inspirational immersion in the Transition movement, gathering stories from around the world of ordinary people doing extraordinary things. You’ll hear about communities printing their own money, growing food everywhere, localising their economies and setting up community power stations. It’s an idea that’s gone viral, a social experiment that’s about responding to uncertain times with solutions and optimism. In a world awash with gloom, here’s a story of hope, ingenuity and the power of growing vegetables in unexpected places.
Ross Moster is the Founder of and Convenor for Village Vancouver. He’s very active helping people connect around building more vibrant, resilient, just, and sustainable communities together. He coordinates Kits Transition Village and VV’s Neighbourhood Food Networks, and also serves on the Vancouver Food Policy Council and the Vancouver Parks Board Local Food Assets Task Force, where he co-chairs the Land Working Group. (The Local Food Action Plan was passed unanimously by the Park Board earlier this week.) Ross also works with several other community organizations, including SPEC and Car Free Vancouver. ross@villagevancouver.ca
