Event Description

Come learn how to make your own traditional, fermented sauerkraut from Aylssa Kohlman using local, organic produce. Fermented vegetables have many health benefits, including live enzymes, readily available vitamins and minerals, and probiotics -- and sauerkraut and other fermented vegetables are suitable for everyone!  If possible, each person should bring a large knife, cutting board, large bowl, cheese grater and one liter-size wide-mouth mason jar with lid. Participants will go home with a jar of sauerkraut to ferment at home, which should be ready to eat in about two weeks.

VV will have a seed library present - you can get some free seeds for your garden or swap or donate some seeds.

Cost: $20. Workshop fee includes cost of materials ($5). Limited to 12 participants. Please register by May 23rd.

50% Subsidies on the non-materials portion ($15) of the workshop fee are available to low income residents of Vancouver with a Leisure Access Card. For details on how to apply, please contact Strathcona CC or visit http://vancouver.ca/parks/rec/lac/index.htm.
