Some of BC's leading experts on sustainability will gather at Langara College on Friday and Saturday, June 11 & 12, to discuss two of the fundamental issues facing humanity: poverty and climate change. Talking and Walking Sustainability will bring together people engaged in social justice, ending poverty, climate change and environmental protection to examine the relationships, links and tensions of sustainability that combines social and environmental issues based on principles of equity.
You don't need to bring your hiking boots. We'll be talking about the sustainability walk and the need to keep both legs in motion: social justice and environment. Join us for stimulating presentations and dialogue, and to inspire action that supports a truly sustainable world.
Saturday's agenda includes the following:
Climate Change Discussion
Chair, Brenda Reid-Kuecks, Ecotrust
Ian Bruce, David Suzuki Foundation,
Marc Lee, Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives
Poverty Discussion
Chair, Michael Clague, Community Development Consultant
Adrienne Montani, First Call BC Child and Youth Advocacy Coalition
Ben West, Wilderness Committee
Red-Green Alliance Discussion
Chair: Kathryn Cholette, Sustainability Activist, George Heyman, Sierra Club BC,
Jim Sinclair, BC Federation of Labour, Vanessa Timmer, One Earth
