Some of BC's leading experts on sustainability will gather at Langara College on Friday and Saturday, June 11 & 12, to discuss two of the fundamental issues facing humanity: poverty and climate change. Talking and Walking Sustainability will bring together people engaged in social justice, ending poverty, climate change and environmental protection to examine the relationships, links and tensions of sustainability that combines social and environmental issues based on principles of equity.
You don't need to bring your hiking boots. We'll be talking about the sustainability walk and the need to keep both legs in motion: social justice and environment. Join us for stimulating presentations, dialogue, and to inspire action that supports a truly sustainable world.
The agenda for Friday evening includes the following:
Setting the Scene: Introduction to Sustainability
Chair: Leslie Kemp, Langara College
Ernie Crey, Sto:lo Tribal Council
Bill Hopwood, Sustainability Activist
Mark Roseland, SFU Centre for Sustainable Community Development
Sponsored by Langara College Continuing Studies. Offered as part of Langara's Summer School on Building Community.
