Event Description

Join with social justice, environmental and labour activists to discuss challenges and strategies for creating a world in which people and the planet not only survive, but thrive.

Speakers Include: Iglika Ivanova, Mike Lewis, Hanane Benzidane, Sven Biggs, Lucas Chan, Lorraine Copas, Eric Doherty, Suresh Fernando, Harjap Grewal, Bonnie Hammond, Romi Chandra Herbert, Nikki Hill, Kevin Huang, Gerry Kasten, Deborah Littman, Robin Macqueen, Bob Matters, Carlos Moreira, Derrick O’Keefe, Adriana Paz, iris yong pearson, Peter Prontzos, Casey Stainsby (Involved in the Quebec Student Movement), Leslie Stern, Ingrid Steenhuisen, Ben West

We will look at the major problems facing humanity: the escalating environmental crises, mass poverty and growing inequality. What changes are needed to our economic and political system to maintain and nourish our social and biological systems?

All sessions throughout the weekend will be interactive. The goal is to engage a diversity of community members in conversations that will lead to greater collaboration and solidarity. Outside of the workshop sessions there will be opportunities to network, and share information through tables, displays, art, etc.

Cost: $35 including food. Discounts available for people with low incomes. No one turned away for lack of funds. Please contact Sarah at sstjohn@langara.bc.ca or 604.323.5193.
