Save Cottonwood Community Garden is having an OPEN HOUSE – come and experience “paradise in the city.”
Free — All Welcome
There’ll be food, garden tours, and Cottonwood’s Master Gardeners will give gardening advice. We’ll have a children’s area and we’ll show you our smart phone self-guided garden tour.
Artist/gardener Claire Schagerl will do an art workshop with adults and children. We’ll have a plant draw and more.
Cottonwood beekeeper Bruce Little and his team will demonstrate our honey bees at work. And yes, there’ll be samples! Check out Bruce’s bee blog.
Erin Udall of the Environmental Youth Alliance’s Native bee project, “Pollinators Paradise,” will show us the many Native bees and other pollinators that thrive in the garden and tell us about how we can all help create bee habitat. See www.eya.ca/pollinators-paradise. Erin gave a workshop at last year’s Open House and it was very popular – don’t miss it!
And we’ll have music: so far we have Linda Lujan who will sing and play her guitar and Villavillekulla who will sing and play their ukuleles, see villavillekulla.ca – and we’re waiting to hear from other musicians.
We’re nailing down the times for the tours, demos, workshops and music sessions and will announce them soon, along with a poster for you to download, print and post. Help us spread the word.
Please check back and in the meantime, we hope that you’ll mark your calendars and let your friends know about this summery Save Cottonwood event.
Let’s bring a lot of people to the Open House this year, both newcomers to the garden who will discover how wonderful it is and everyone who loves the garden and wants to protect it.
Please download & print our poster so you can post it around the neighbourhood!
