Event Description
MarketSafe is a food safety training program for farmers and producers who make, bake or grow products to sell at local farmers' markets, farm gates or other types of temporary food markets. MarketSafe was developed by the BC FOODSAFE Secretariat in partnership with the BC Association of Farmers’ Markets, and is supported by the Regional Health Authorities, the BC Centre for Disease Control, and the BC Ministry of Agriculture and Lands.
Learning Goals:
Causes, sources, & transmission of foodborne pathogens
Risk management & Contamination control techniques
Successful students will receive a certificate issued by the Vancouver Health Authority
Instructor:
Lisa Weih has been a FOODSAFE Instructor since 1988 and has been employed with the Fraser Health Authority as a Health Inspector since 1992. Since 2007 she has been teaching introductory HACCP workshops with the Small Scale Food Processor Assn to food producers throughout the province.
