Event Description

"Mr.Burnaby, tear down this boundary (Rd.)!" Let's let chickens flow freely into Burnaby. Support backyard flocks at Burnaby City Hall Monday, March 7, at 7 pm sharp!

Right now, they are only allowed in agricultural zones, which are only on the outskirts.

Unfortunately, we only get 10 minutes total to make our case. So if you come, bring a sign to make the message clear, whether it's food security, hamane husbandry, guermet appetite, or educational opportunities for kids. My personal take is "why the hell not have chickens - when was the last time something delicious came out of a dog's rear end?" But I may try and be a little more eloquent than that.

Please circulate this to anyone you know (anywhere) who might want to come and show their support. I believe that it'll be good to have Burnaby residents who want to keep hens, as well as Vancouverites with success stories.

Thank you for supporting fresh eggs. May your yolks never pop (unless you scramble), your whites never run, and your shells remain strong.

Duncan

Thanks for posting Duncan. Gordan was going to, but I think he got swamped with other stuff.
