Village Vancouver, Westside Neighbourhood Food Network, and Kits branch VPL present a workshop covering the basics of planning, preparing and starting a food garden. You'll learn some simple techniques from Karen Ageson from Farmers on 57th for starting plants indoors and in the garden, tailored to your space. Be rewarded with the taste of freshly grown veggies this season, and pick up some free seeds for your garden from the Community Seed Library!
Cost: Free. Drop in, no registration required. (Optionally, you can RSVP here (http://www.villagevancouver.ca/events/introduction-to-organic-gardening-free-workshop) or to ross@villagevancouver.ca) for the workshop.
The annual Westside Organic Gardening Open House immediately follows the workshop in the patio from 1-4 pm. Join Societe Le Village, Village Vancouver, Kits Community Centre Collaborative Garden, Westside Food Collaborative, and Kits Vancouver Public Library at this family-friendly event for a fun filled afternoom of interactive and informative gardening related activities. Rain or Shine, and part of the Wild About Vancouver Festival.
The workshop and Village's booth at the Open House are part of Village Vancouver's Building Community Food Security and Resilience Project.
