Imagine a food friendly neighbourhood. What would you like to see in it? What knowledge, skills, and other food related assets exist in Fairview and False Creek South? How can neighbours collaborate to make better use of these resources, and how can Village Vancouver help facilitate a more food friendly and resilient neighbourhood? Join us for a tasty potluck, followed by a visioning session where we “imagine the possibilities” around food in the community and explore ways to connect through a Fairview/False Creek South Neighbourhood Food Network. F/FCS NFN is an emerging network sponsored by Village Vancouver. Neighhourhood Food Networks (NFN’s) currently exist in most neighbourhoods in the city, and many of us are linked through Vancouver Neighbourhood Food Networks. VV has helped start several networks, and runs an extensive array of NFN activities and projects throughout the city including seed libraries, collaborative gardens, food and gardening workshops (including our Native Edibles workshop and walk on Granville Island October 17th), permaculture projects, potlucks, dinner groups and drop-in spaghetti nights, Neighbour Savour, Slow Food/Slow Everything Day, film and food festivals, a monthly recycling depot, food oriented art projects, neighbourhood food emergency preparedness, a demonstration sustainable village, and more. Please bring some food (homegrown, if possible), or a non-alcoholic beverage to share, and a cup, bowl, spoon, etc. if you’re able to.
