love sauerkraut and wonder how it's made?
have digestive issues and think you need some extra bacteria in your gut?
don't like traditional sauerkraut but the thought of healthy fermented fruit makes yer mouth water?
come to this workshop!
lead by fiona the fermentation femme, this workshop will cover some basic fermentation rules and explanation of how it works, will be hands on, and will prepare you to make more fermented fruit and veggie experiments on your own.
we will make a fermented fruit chutney, with a variety of fruit, onions, lemon and ginger. sound interesting? it is! and delicious!
please come prepared to get yer hands dirty (after you clean them really well) and to carry a jar of fruit home to tend to as it ferments.
if you can, please bring a litre or quart size mason jar with you.
let us know if you are bringing one, as we will source the extra ones as necessary. a 250ml jar would also be useful to have, but you don't need to bring it with you (it will be used as a weight when you've brought the chutney home to ferment).
if you have a wooden spoon or other wood implement that you can pound fruit into a jar with, please bring it. not necessary, but makes this slightly easier!
we will be asking for donations to cover cost, sliding scale $5-10 suggested, but no one will be turned away.
please confirm your attendance by emailing pt.communitykitchen@gmail.com as we have limited space!
10-12 folks max.
