Event Description

Come learn about the design, implementation and management plan for the new Copley Community Orchard, and opportunities to get involved!

This is an exciting new project aimed at showcasing the myriad benefits of perennial food producing plants, educating people on their cultivation, and creating a beautiful and productive space accessible to all.

In August, 2011, The Environmental Youth Alliance signed a 5 year license with the City of Vancouver, for a 1 acre vacant plot of land near the Nanaimo Skytrain station, with the purpose of developing it into a community orchard and perennial plant demonstration garden. A core group of community members has been hard at work developing the design and implementation plan and are now ready to open the project up to the broader public for participation, input or just plain old curiosity! At the Open House on March 1st, the group will present the current design and management plan, answer questions and describe the history of the site. There will be a sign up for anyone interested in getting involved. Membership in the orchard is open to all, but in the event of exceeding our membership capacity, priority is given according to proximity to the site. Details on what membership entails will be presented at the open house.
