Event Description

An Open House will be held on Monday, December 3rd for the purpose of receiving public feedback on the Cohousing project proposed at 1729, 1733 and 1735 East 33rd Avenue.

The event will be held between 5-8pm at the Kensington Community Centre (5175 Dumfries Street near Knight & 37th) in a drop-in format.

This Cohousing development would have a floor space ratio of 0.92 and a maximum height of 10.5 m (34.4 ft) with total of 31 units. The development would be constructed on a site currently comprised of three single family lots.

Further information on this project can be found on the city’s website here, on the Vancouver Cohousing website, and in a CityHallWatch article. The Urban Design Panel will be reviewing this project on Wednesday December 5, 2012 with a projected start of 5pm (third item on the agenda).

Village Vancouver is a strong supporter of co-housing and sees particular community value in this project due to its:
- modest floor space ratio that fits into the scale of the neighbourhood,
- community living (shared resources)...very much like a Transition Town,
- excellence in design (award winning architect), and
- design by future residents over 4 workshops
