Learn how to build your soil for a healthy vibrant veggie garden! Ever wonder what’s so special about soil? Or what you can do to make your soil even more fertile? Soil is the foundation of a terrific veggie garden – it provides the nutrients, stability, and resilience for healthy plants for greater tolerance of storms, rainfall, heat, drought, disease, or pests. You are welcome to bring a 1 L + CLEAR container at least half full of YOUR garden soil for some simple tests to learn specifically about your garden’s soil and how to improve it.
Instructor: Anthony McCullough
Village will have a seed library present - if you come a little early, you can get some free seeds for your garden or swap or donate some seeds.
$27. Subsidies: 50% subsidies are available to low income residents of Vancouver with a Leisure Access Card. For details on how to apply, please visit http://vancouver.ca/parks-recreation-culture/leisure-access-card.aspx.
If we don't have enough registration at least a couple days in advance, we don't know if there's going to be enough revenue to pay the instructor, so sometimes we have to cancel because of this. We encourage everyone to pre-register, but lots of people tend to wait to the last minute, and by then we've already had to cancel.
As always, if there's a workshop you want to attend, please register at least two days in advance. (In some cases, where we need to pick up supplies based on the number of participants, or grow something for the class in advance, there may be a longer lead time, and we'll post an earlier deadline.)
I just called about this today Thursday and it has been cancelled
